We believe the arts connect our students
to history, to diverse cultures across the world, to the human
spirit, and to their own imaginations.
The arts at Charlotte Country Day are not extracurricularat; they are integral to the kind of educational
and human experiences we want our students to have.Students in every division at every grade
level learn how to reach their highest level of
creative expression through visual arts, vocal and instrumental music,
drama, and dance classes.
The entire school community enjoys
the remarkable talents of our art students and their teachers in a
variety of annual fine art events produced by students at all
levels, and performed in the Gorelick Family Theater. These
include drama productions; musicals; choir, orchestra, and band concerts.
In addition, student works at all levels are displayed around
campus and in the Dalton and Hance art galleries, as well as in community
exhibitions. Whether working together to perform a play on stage, learning how to glaze a ceramic bowl, or perfecting a choir solo, our students learn that making art-and appreciated art at school, for college preparation, and in the future- is part of the creative journey.
The arts are not extracurricular
at Country Day; they are integral to the kind of educational
and human experiences we want our students to have.
