Lower School Dress Code
Foreign Language (grade 2-4 students)
Students in grades JK-1 take both French and Spanish. Starting in second grade, students focus on one foreign language. The form below should be completed for new students in grades 2, 3, and 4.

Summer Reading
Middle School students are expected to read at least three books over the summer. One of the three books is selected for the entire grade and the other two are reader's choice. These books may be fiction or nonfiction, but the books must be a first time read for the student. Below are the grade level titles that are required reading:
- 5th Grade - The Jacket by Andrew Clements
- 6th Grade - Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman
- 7th Grade - The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
- 8th Grade - The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

Upper School Dress Code
Textbooks
Upper School students may purchase new and used textbooks.
- New Textbooks: All new textbooks are purchased online through a vendor, MBS Direct. In August, parents receive information about how to order books online.
- Used Textbook Sale: As a fundraiser, the Parents' Association sells used textbooks, with proceeds split between the seller and the Parents' Association. The sale takes place on August 7, 7:30 am-noon.
Student Driving/Parking Privileges
Due to the limited number of parking spaces, freshmen are not permitted to drive to school and only a limited number of sophomores are permitted to drive to school. Each student who drives to school must register his/her car in the Upper School office and pay a $5 fee. Complete details are outlined in the Student Handbook, which arrives in late July.
