Testing
Grades JK-4
Read the Charlotte Area Independent Schools (CAIS) brochure for more information on the testing process for this age group.
Grades 5-12
The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) consists of verbal and quantitative ability tests, mathematics and reading comprehension achievement tests, and an essay that demonstrates a student's writing skills.
International Students
All international applicants must take the TOEFL test to measure the ability to use and understand the English language.Visit TOEFL for more information.
Teacher Recommendations
Online
Our preferred method of completing teacher recommendations is online using schoolrecs.com. The online method notifies your teachers of due dates, lets you know when your recommendation has been completed, and transmits recommendations electronically. Due after January 1.
