School begins on Carmel Road, the present site
of the Cannon Campus. Six buildings are complete on the modern
campus.
1960–61
The first "official" Big Saturday event is held
and raises $3,200. This annual parent-sponsored event continues
to be held today and is one of the Parents' Association's
biggest fundraisers.
June 1962 Country Day graduates its first seniors, a class
of just 15 students.
1966–67 School in the Woods, a popular Middle School
program, takes place for the first time. More than 30 years
later, it is still a Middle School tradition.
1969 Dr. A. Emerson Johnson becomes headmaster for four years.
